“Our private eye clinic provides the ideal environment to examine and treat patients”

My specialties are the treatment of macular degeneration (AMD), retinal diseases, vitreomacular diseases, retinopathy of prematurity and retinal and choroidal tumor controls. I am trained across all ophthalmological departments due to my leading role in the emergency department of the eye clinic. Surgically, my specializations are retinal surgery (vitrectomy) and cataract surgery.

We look after you from the very moment you call up to enquire, all the way through to the point you are discharged, and then anytime you may need us again.

Services

The following examinations are carried out in our eye clinic:

  1. Examination of the anterior segment of the eye

The eye is examined by means of a slit lamp (slicing microscope) without touching the eye. In particular, the examination of the eyelids, conjunctiva, cornea, dermis, iris and lens can be performed in the context of this study. By holding a special magnifying glass, the posterior segment of the eye (retina, vitreous, optic nerve and choroid) can also be examined. The examination is painless.

  2. fundus examination

The fundus examination is used to assess the interior of the eye, in particular the retina, the choroid and the optic nerve. For this purpose pupil-dilating drops must be introduced into the eye. After about 20 minutes, the examination can be carried out. Normally, the pupils remain dilated for three to four hours and the near vision is limited. During this time it is not allowed to drive a motor vehicle.

  3. Photo documentation

It is possible to take pictures of the eye during the examination. This documentation can be used to better track your progress. In addition, the patient’s eye findings can be better Illustrated.

  4. A refractor
  5. OCT

In ocular coherence tomography (OCT), the eye is examined by means of a light pulse. Similar to computed tomography and MRI, which use X-rays or magnetic fields to create an image of the inside of the body, OCT sends a light pulse into the eye, which is reflected by the tissue inside the eye (especially the retina, choroid, and optic nerve). This creates an image that shows the layers on a microscopic level. In particular, diseases of the macula (such as macular degeneration and vitreomacular diseases) can be recognized early and therefore, their progress can be controlled. Glaucoma and cataract, can also be controlled using OCT and is adjunct to eye pressure measurement and visual field examination.

  6. Eye pressure measurement

After dropping a yellow dye, the internal pressure of the eye is measured, especially in patients with glaucoma or after eye surgery.

  7. Visual field testing

A device is used to measure the field of vision or the area in which a visual stimulus is perceived. The examination is performed separately for each eye and lasts about ten minutes per eye. While one eye is covered, one point is fixed with the eye to be examined. On a screen surface, this eye is presented with a point of light in the peripheral but also in the central field of vision. When seen by the patient, the patient pushes a handset. A visual field examination is necessary in particular for cataracts, but also for other optic nerve and Sehbahnerkrankungen, strokes in the visual cortex of the brain and for driving license allowance.

  8. Mutter-Kind-Pass Untersuchung

The ophthalmological examination is required between the 22nd and 26th month. It examines both the eye itself and its function so that illness or ametropia can be ruled out. Before that, an eye examination is planned between 10th and 14th month, which can also be carried out by the pediatrician. In children, vision develops on its own from birth. Newborns can already see, but sharp enough only from a distance of 25 to 30 cm. Only in the course of several years do children achieve complete vision. Anomalies in which parents are required to visit a pediatric or ophthalmologist are:

    • strabismus

Lack of fixation (especially on faces)

    • A missing red pupil reflex (clearly visible with flashed photos)

    • In the case of a one-sided, white pupillary reflex, a presentation must be made immediately to the ophthalmologist or an eye clinic.

    • A very large eye with dull cornea (the clear, transparent part of the outer eye). In the mother-child-pass examination between the 22nd and 26th month, a visit duration of about one hour must be expected. This examination assesses mobility, spatial vision, visual acuity, anterior segment, posterior segment (including the retina and optic nerve), eye fixation and refraction (exclusion of ametropia). The examination is not painful for the child.
